After SYSCO launched its Nordic venture last summer, and established branch offices in Sweden and Denmark, the company has seen a strong growth in customer numbers and growing interest in the company’s services.
Country Manager Sweden, Jörgen Bjurling, joined SYSCO in April this year and is now one of 3 employees at the Stockholm office. Bjurling has previously worked with a wide range of IT solutions, and is not in any doubt why SYSCO experiences good reception in its neighboring countries.
-The Swedish IT market is characterized by highly specialized players. This means that you often have to choose several suppliers to meet your company’s needs, and there is no natural overlap between the skills you need for large projects, explains Bjurling. This, he believes, gives a very big competitive edge to SYSCO.
SYSCO has already become a major player in IT solutions for the Norwegian utility industry, something Bjurling sees as an exciting starting point for the Swedish market as well. At the same time, he also sees an opportunity to transfer key skills to other industries.
SYSCO has built up strong expertise in middleware and integration, applications, consulting services and data security in its deliveries to the utility industry. These are products and services that are also particularly important to the financial industry, says Bjurling.
His statement corresponds well with the response from Denmark, where SYSCO among other services have been granted a long term contract with Nordea.
In the years to come, Bjurling sees a great potential for assistance with streamlining work processes for the Swedish utility industry. Sweden has many more players in this industry than Norway, and often these companies need to offer a wide range of services, from broadband to waste management to its customers. SYSCO’s solutions allow all IT systems to communicate with each other so as to avoid unnecessary use of resources. Bjurling says that SYSCO therefore offers workshops to review the various aspects of the business, analyzing both weaknesses and other opportunities for improvement.
On October 17th and 18th, SYSCO is scheduling an “energy road trip”, inviting the Swedish energy industry to various events in Årebro and Ljungby. Here you will find a broad presentation of SYSCO’s experiences from the Nordic utility market, including the development of Elhub and automatic meters in Norway, to other news relevant to the industry.
