Core Tech track:

Oracle 18c XE – verdens beste database helt gratis
Speaker: Øyvind Isene – SYSCO

I 2011 kom Oracle XE for 11g ut.

What happens to the DBA when the cloud becomes a reality?

Speaker: Brian Carlsen – Basecare a part of SYSCO

As an Oracle database administrator, you may have experienced that others expect you to know several of the products delivered by Oracle – cause it’s Oracle, right? Moving to Oracle Cloud these expectations may become even higher – since now the infrastructure is also delivered by Oracle. The Cloud DBA must be able to cope with the total cloud architecture including network setup, OS administration, security etc.

In this presentation I will share my experiences working with the Oracle Database Cloud Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). How to get from scratch to operate small customer’s production databases in Oracle Cloud.

– Where to begin if you want your database in Oracle Cloud?
– Infrastructure configuration to get up and running
– Creating database – GUI or by script?
– Troubleshooting operations issues – what can possibly go wrong in a full automated cloud?
– Tips and tricks to secure safe and sound operations

Next generation Data Warehouse
Speaker: Andreas Tønnesen – Basecare a part of SYSCO

Next generation Data Warehouse based on Oracle Data Integrator and GoldenGate.

Experiences from architecting and building the next generation datawarehouse for a large Nordic financial institution.
Demand for high availability and performance in an ever changing environment and the business requires real-time data available in the Warehouse.

How did we move from technology based on Materialized Views and Warehouse Builder to GoldenGate and ODI.
How do we ensure full history in archive and deliver close to real-time data to the business.

I will bring technical insight on how we utilize the technology, the challenges and the pitfalls.
Brief discussion on operating and ensuring governance in an agile environment.

Dev/Devops track

Building Cloud Native Infrastructure with Terraform, Kubernetes & the Hashistack
Speaker: Francisco Arturo Viveros – SYSCO

Infrastructure is all the software and hardware needed to support the life cycle of applications. This includes data centers, operating systems, hypervisors, VMs, deployment pipelines, application servers, containers and much more. There’s been much hype regarding concepts such as Configuration Management and Infrastructure as Code, with organizations all across the board enjoying significant benefits by applying these principles and related tooling such as puppet, chef, ansible, etc.

It might already be time for the next step though; after years of evolving their technology and perfecting patterns & practices, some companies are now able to run infrastructure and applications at massive scale and with renowned agility. Efficiently running infrastructure accelerates business by enabling faster iteration and shorter times to market.

Cloud native infrastructure is becoming the standard for effectively running modern applications. Outstanding scale is not a prerequisite to following these practices, so if you want to reap their rewards you should listen to the experience of those who have pioneered these patterns.

In this session we will discuss the benefits of adopting cloud native practices and how they can relate to your applications, the platform where they run and your business. We will also take a look at how this all applies to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Integration track

Connecting Akka Streams with Oracle Event Hub Cloud Service
Speaker: Dalibor Blazevic – SYSCO

This live demo will cover some of the most hot topics in Open Source community when it comes to integration technologies, and Oracle is doing his best to support it with his Cloud solution. Topic will cover connectivity between two most prominent and influential toolkits when it comes to Integration technologies: Akka and Kafka. We will use Akka microservices to collect, transform and process data in highly parallel fashion and then we will feed this data to Kafka based Oracle Event Hub Cloud Service.
The most important takeaways from this presentation will be:
1. Demonstrate how Open Source and Oracle can work together
2. Demonstrate how Open Source integration technologies can complement more traditional ones
See in live demo speed and resilience of the Akka-Kafka message flow.

A Multitude of integration styles
Speaker: Jon Petter Hjulstad – SYSCO

Over the years we have had different flavours of integration platforms and styles. This presentation will cover some of the trends we see with Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Cloud Integrations, Self Service Automation and Low Code vs Code platforms. We now have to handle increasing amounts of data and events – and it expected for both AI and ML to be part of the solution.  This presentation will include samples from Sysco projects.
